Westchester Medical Center Lobby Expansion And Renovation
The Lobby located at Westchester Medical Center’s Main Tower building doubled in size and provides a new connection promenade, care giver center, as well as upgrades to the all existing visitor check-in, security and curb side entry. The total area of interior improvements is 15,284 square feet (sf). This includes 8,812 sf of renovation and 6,472 sf of new construction.
  • The goal of the project was to improve circulation, upgrade support spaces and to provide “natural light and transparency” by the use of energy efficient glass and aluminum storefront systems.
  • The project scope involved demolition of existing walls, ceilings, entrance canopy and MEP distribution systems in the affected area.
  • Interior improvements included the redesign of existing support spaces to provide a 2 hour fire rated extension passage from the existing South exit stair, information desk, lounge, a meditation room, a toilet room with a shower, resource center, training room and retail space. MEP upgrades provided new lighting, fire suppression (sprinklers) and air distribution ductwork.
  • New construction included a structural steel frame, metal panel roofing, in addition to the energy efficient glass and aluminum storefront system. The façade included composite aluminum panels and metal framed exterior insulated finish system (EIFS). A free standing glass canopy, a seating area with concrete pavers, illuminated bollards, new roadway curbing and landscaping.
